It was interesting to watch the visits and speeches of Pope Francis last week and also people’s reactions, across social media especially. So many people I know who considered themselves “non religious” are very drawn to the Pope and his messages of justice, mercy and the power of our connection as community. There’s something about his words, his actions, and his generosity of spirit that seem to draw people in closer to listen. It felt as if there were pockets of our nation that for a moment, stepped up to the same table to have a seat and listen and regard one another.
