Thank you for all of the prayers, love and support you have given to Shelly, our family and me. Your cards, flowers and food have been an immense blessing to us as Shelly recovers from her surgery. It is a great blessing to have a faith family, a community to support you and walk with you through not only the good times but also the bad times.
It’s hard to believe that it has been three years since we moved to St. Luke’s from the Mountains of Georgia. We loved that Wesley Chapel UMC, little mountain church and the people of the community. One of the first things I learned about when we moved up there was the Annual Revival. In the revival tradition a church invites a guest preacher to come and bring (Preach) the Gospel for anywhere from three days to a week. It’s great because the congregation gets to hear from a new voice and a different perspective.
Last week we kicked off a new sermon series with a video message from pastor and author Andy Stanley who wrote the book “How to Be Rich.” Think of Andy as our Revival Preacher, a new voice with a different perspective. This week Andy will be “back” with Pastor Corey and me along with some of our lay leaders as we encounter the Living God and engage with this subject “Regarding Generosity.” In preparation for Sunday read our scripture lesson this week, Mark 12: 41-44.
After the 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. services there will be “talkback sessions” in the Fellowship Hall. In this time there will be a discussion regarding the book “How to Be Rich” and the worship experience (including time for questions and answers). All are invited to join in as we seek to become a congregation and community who reflects God’s loving generosity.
See you Sunday, Grace and Peace,
Pastor Jad
