Happy New Year!
We hope you have had wonderful Christmas celebrations with family and friends. We look forward to celebrating and living into 2015 together as a St. Luke’s family. We hope this is a year of growing deeper in our walk as disciples, faithful stewards, and people committed to bringing the vision of St. Luke’s to life.
In January, we will begin the month by giving you a chance to ask questions of all five of your pastors, in our series “You Asked.” On Sunday, January 4 we will worship as one church in three services. All of our services will be in the Sanctuary this Sunday, giving you a choice between worshipping at 8:00, 9:30, or 11:00 a.m. This gives all five of us a chance to be with you and have dialogue together. It will also give you a chance to get to know each of your pastors a little bit better.
Throughout the years St. Lukers have enjoyed “Ask the Pastor” Sundays. Worshippers write down questions during the service and then we franticly sift through to find the ones we can answer during a thirty minute portion of worship. On Sunday, January 4 we once again invite you to submit your questions. We will answer as many as we can during our time together and the others will be combined with questions that we have collected over the years. In looking at the questions from years past we realized that they fall into categories about who God is, our relationship to God and how we live this out in our call. Both our January and February sermon series will help answer some of these questions. Then each week we will find ways pre-worship, in worship, and after worship, as well as throughout the week on our website to continue to answer your questions.
In February we will be sharing a sermon series on the Apostles Creed, breaking down each component of what we believe about God, The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. As we walk through the creed, many of the questions asked throughout the years will find if not answers, at least more to deepen each of us as we grow toward Lent.
We can’t wait to see you on Sunday at one of the three services in the Sanctuary! Until then may you and yours have a wonderful and happy new year.
Grace and Peace-
Your Clergy Team.
