St. Luke’s Staffing Update:
Following the retirement announcement of Debbie Shellhorn and Cindy Wunderlich, who have led St. Luke’s Child Development Center (CDC) for thirty years, St. Luke’s Staff Parish Relations Committee approved Janet Chambers, current Director of Children’s Ministries, to transition to the role of Director for the CDC effective July 1. Janet has served as St. Luke’s Director of Children’s Ministries for five years and the Associate Director of Children’s Ministries for three years. In these roles, Janet worked to connect St. Luke’s children’s ministry with the ministry of the CDC through chapel times, helping train teachers, and offering support for families. Prior to joining the St. Luke’s staff, Janet worked as the Director of the Middletown UMC Preschool in Maryland. She has also been a Head Start Director and a Teacher in St. Luke’s CDC. Janet holds a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and master’s degree in public administration.
The continuity of relationships, spiritual gifts, education, experience, and commitment to St. Luke’s mission, vision (which includes expanding and growing the CDC), and core values will allow Janet to continue building on Debbie and Cindy’s legacy. St. Luke’s is excited Janet will be starting in this position in July and preparing this vital ministry for opening in the fall. The church will be publishing two job postings in the coming week: Director of Children’s Ministries and Associate Director of the Child Development Center. To apply for either of these open positions, please visit St. Luke’s jobs webpage to complete an application and submit a resume and cover letter.
