Merry Christmas, St. Lukers!
Are you still singing “Do a Little Good” after Christmas Eve? I hope so. I hope you’ve found yet again this Christmas the reminder of the meaning of the season – to remind us of the way that God came down to be among us, showing us what we are here to do in our own lives and our world as well.
This year, our Sunday after Christmas falls on New Year’s Eve. It’s that day that always seems like it’s on the brink of something new, of something better, of the possibility for all those things we talked about during Advent – hope, peace, joy, and love. But let’s not forget Pastor Jenn’s Christmas Eve reminder that transformation doesn’t happen in a moment, but in how all the “little” bits of good we choose for ourselves and for our world come together over time.
This Sunday, we’re going to have some fun together in worship – we’re going to sing Christmas carols and talk about “the rest of the story” – a few years later when the Magi with gifts follow a star to find their way to Jesus as a young child.
On the brink of yet another new year, after the last few “new years,” we are all probably a little hesitant to make those big declarations of change. Instead, we’re challenging all St. Lukers for 2024 simply to live “On Purpose.” That we will collectively be intentional about how we live, what we do, where we use our time and resources…that we will choose our path by focusing on the love of Jesus to guide us.
Join me on Sunday for an intimate worship experience where we tell stories, sing carols, and think about what we need to focus on in order to reset our purpose for 2024. We will worship All-In with all ages together in one service at 10:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary (and live online).
You can also go ahead and sign up for our next round of Lead Your Life classes, on campus or online, beginning January 9 and 10. This class will help you discover ways to live intentionally in the new year, and every year, by focusing on who God has made you to be and how God is calling you throughout your life’s seasons.
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday, and to living a purpose-full life in 2024!
