Greetings St. Luke’s Family!
I have to say, the last five weeks have been pretty wild for me. Moving to Orlando has been quite the ride. A few kind folks have asked if I miss Atlanta at all, and if I’m honest, I do. On the other hand, anyone who knows me knows that Florida holds two homes away from home for me. One of which being St. Luke’s, the other, my undergraduate alma mater the great Bethune-Cookman University. I couldn’t be more excited to see these two worlds mesh this Sunday as BCU’s Concert Chorale joins us in the Sanctuary for Traditional worship. During my time as a music major at Cookman, I was constantly in awe of this group. From performing for former President and First Lady Barack and Michelle Obama, to singing internationally in Israel and Cuba, the power and legacy of historically Black Colleges and Universities is always well represented.
For those of you who plan to attend Contemporary worship this week, Pastor Melissa will conclude our “Simply Love” series by helping us to think about how sometimes love is, “Not So Simple.” Her message will hold in tension the idea of call as disruptive and part of a larger story. A great way to prepare our hearts and minds for this conversation would be to read and meditate on Isaiah 9:1-4 and Matthew 4:12-23. It’s already an amazing week here at St. Luke’s and I can’t wait to see you all on Sunday!
Blessings!
Pastor Jeremy
