Dear St. Lukers,
I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but according to the St. Luke’s calendar, since we plan activities based on the OCPS calendar, summer is coming to an end! It is hard to believe that teachers go back to school in the next week, and students soon follow, which means it’s time to start making plans for a fabulous, fun, fall rhythm of faith!!
We are gearing up for All-In Sunday on August 7, and this month there will be an emphasis on education and back to school. On August 14 we can’t wait to kick off the fall with Welcome Home, and invite everyone to RE:Connect with St. Luke’s as we Learn, Live, Love, and Lead together. This will be the first Sunday of our new elementary-age ministry in The Treehouse (upstairs in Building C) at 9:30 a.m. and the beginning of our 11:15 a.m. on-campus Contemporary and Traditional worship services.
And that’s not all! August 17 at 5:00 p.m. begins the all-new Wednesdays at St. Luke’s, where we’ll have weekly dinners and fellowship (FREE pasta dinner on August 17 – click here to RSVP!), a worship time, and ministries for all ages on campus.
But first, we’ll finish our series on the Gospel of John with Jesus passing on the work of incarnation to us. Read John 21:15-19 to prepare your hearts as we explore the conversation of forgiveness between John and Peter after Peter’s denial of Jesus before the crucifixion. So often forgiveness, repentance, and salvation have been reduced to saying a specific prayer and following certain steps. However, Jesus offers Peter salvation in a conversation of love that requires action. It’s pretty simple, and much easier than we’ve made it. Love God? Then serve God’s people.
Which brings me back to the fall!
In order to accomplish all the exciting ministry and plans this fall to welcome you and the community back to St. Luke’s, we need people who love God to help us serve God’s people. We need servant leaders to help usher our neighbors into an amazing season of spiritual growth, community building, and restoring hope. We know that with YOU there are More Than Enough willing hearts, talent, and generosity of time and resources to make St. Luke’s a home for everyone. Please take a moment to consider and pray about how you can share your gifts this fall.
