A Note from Pastor Jenn-December 8, 2022

Posted on December 8, 2022 at 10:20 am in .

Dear St. Lukers,

It was a precious weekend as our cast of young people shared the age-old story of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer where misfits find a place of belonging. The cast was amazing and it was a gift to meet so many of our community neighbors who came to the show. It was a huge success not only because of the kids, but the dedicated, gifted volunteers who spent months designing the set, making costumes and props, and working with the children every Sunday. Through the generosity of our volunteers, scholarship donors, and artists, it was a wonderful learning experience for 26 children and young people. It was the perfect story for St. Luke’s to share and kick off December!

But we aren’t done yet…

This week the campus is abuzz with 100+ people attending dress rehearsals and prepping for our annual Christmas Concerts. The Sanctuary Choir is ready, the orchestra is getting tuned, the dancers and children are getting in costume, and the elves are sprucing up the campus to invite you to “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” with concerts this Saturday and Sunday. You can purchase your tickets by clicking here, there are still some seats available! You won’t want to miss this beautiful musical telling of the nativity story. Plus, it really feels like Christmas once the last note is played!

AND there’s more…

We then turn our focus toward Christmas Eve and the nine services in the Sanctuary on December 23 and 24. In case you haven’t seen the schedule, this year we are sharing December 23 as an additional date for the community to attend. Plan when you and your family will come to worship, and then please consider volunteering at a service or two to help us welcome our neighbors to campus. The more helping hands and smiling faces we have, the more we will live into our core values for people to experience Christ’s birth at St. Luke’s this Christmas. Sharing your time is an enormous gift to our staff and community as thousands will come to know us. The most important contact someone may have with the love of Christ and the power of the incarnation may just be with YOU as you welcome someone to worship. See the volunteer spots we have available and sign up by clicking here, and I promise we will have an amazing time serving together!

This week in worship we head to Luke’s house, which I’m just going to say right up front, is my favorite! However, what I’ve learned from our study and reading is WHY it’s my favorite house. The reasons are not what I thought, but the reasons are exactly what God knows we need. I hope to see you Sunday as we continue this tour of the gospel birth narratives and find the hope, peace, and joy we are looking for this Advent season.

Grace and Blessings,

Jenn.
