Welcome back St. Lukers!!

We are thrilled to kick off the fall and back-to-school season together! This Sunday, our Fall Kickoff is HERE, and we can’t wait to be all together! Join us at 10am in the Sanctuary for a combined worship experience for all ages, followed by a fun ministry fair. This is a great chance for you and your family to plan for your fall discipleship journey. Don’t miss out on this exciting event!

We begin a new series this week based on the book of Ephesians entitled ROOTED in purpose. Using our purpose statement: Awakening disciples to reveal the Kingdom, we will be rooting ourselves in Wesleyan basics to lead our lives more purposefully this fall.  What does it mean to strengthen our Wesleyan roots of grace, committing to grow in personal and social holiness, and understanding the call to reveal God’s Kingdom in this space and time?  We will not only be using Ephesians but looking at some of Wesley’s own words as we move through this month.

I hope you have seen the amazing reviews we have received for The Sound of Music.  I am appreciative for the hundreds of cast, crew, orchestra, set designers, ushers, concession workers, child helpers and everyone who has made this such an inspiring show.  This is the last weekend, and tickets are going fast. In one scene, Mother Abbess says to Maria, “My child,  you have a great capacity – to love. What you must find out is, how does God want you to spend your love?”

This fall, as we get back into routines, schedules and relational conversations often over-dictated by school, extracurricular activities, work and election cycles, I encourage each of us, at any age, to consider Mother Abbess’s challenge.  How does God want you to spend your love and your life?  To find the answer, you must be rooted in your faith – not casually or circumstantially, but with purpose and intention.  Do not lead your life by accident, but purposefully rooted in a relationship with the One who gave you this life and love to spend. That is what Sunday is all about. Join us and bring your calendar to sign up for classes, volunteer opportunities and ways to Learn, Live, and Love God to Lead your Life with God’s story.

Do not forget to bring your donations for our Back-to-School shoe and toiletries drive for Mollie Rae and Maxey Elementary.  We will be offering a blessing over these items and distributing them the first week of school.  You can find the list or the link to the Amazon wish list here.

See you Sunday –
Jenn.
