Dear St. Lukers,
I’m Karen Dawson, and I have been a member of St. Luke’s since 2002. As soon as I joined the church, I joined the choir. I had sung in many church choirs as our family moved around the country, so it was a given that I would join St. Luke’s Sanctuary Choir. However, I had not ever been a part of such a large one! As intimidating as it was at first, it quickly became a comfort level, AND certainly better than a weekly therapy session! The Sanctuary Choir has the gift of some very talented professional singers, as well as people like me who just like to sing. Amazingly, we are all welcome.
There are so many opportunities for social interaction through our choir functions including potlucks, parties, retreats as well as outreach into the community to sing. Little did I realize the depths of experiences I would have. We work hard AND have fun!
How many church choirs do you know put on Christmas concerts that are so professionally done? This year is no exception, and there will be many surprises! “Wonder,” this year’s concert experience, is being performed on Saturday, December 14 at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, December 15 at 5:30 p.m. Sunday’s show is sold out, but there are still tickets available for the Saturday shows! Please come and join us for a very inspirational evening exploring the mystery and music of Christmas. You will not be disappointed.
You also have the opportunity to spend Christmas with us! St. Luke’s Preeve services on December 23 will be at 6:00, 7:15, and 8:30 p.m., and on Christmas Eve we will hold a special Nativity Pageant for children and their families at 4:00 p.m., and candlelight worship services at 5:30, 7:00, 8:30, 10:00, and 11:15 p.m. We hope to see everyone at the concerts this weekend, and in worship during this special time as we experience the sights and sounds of the season as one St. Luke’s family.
Blessings to you and yours,
Karen Dawson
