Questions for Discussion and Reflection:
5.5.2025 – (Re)fresh
John 4:13-15
- What do you think Jesus means when he talks about “living water”? What kinds of “thirsts” (spiritual, emotional, relational) do you see in your own life or in the world around you?
- Jesus crosses several social boundaries in this passage—gender, ethnicity, religion. How might this challenge us to examine our own assumptions or biases about who belongs or who deserves attention? Who might be the “Samaritan woman” in your context today—someone overlooked or misunderstood—and how might Jesus be meeting them?
- The woman at the well experiences a radical shift in perspective after her encounter with Jesus. Have you ever had a moment in your life when a conversation, insight, or relationship transformed your way of seeing the world or yourself?
- How do you understand Jesus’ offer of eternal life—not just as something after death, but as something that begins now? What might it look like for “a spring of water that bubbles up” to be at work in your daily life?
- Compare Nicodemus (John 3) and the Samaritan woman (John 4). What do their different encounters with Jesus teach us about who Jesus is and how he meets people?
- The woman speaks of the well as a gift from Jacob, a treasured tradition. Jesus offers something new.
How do you navigate honoring spiritual traditions while remaining open to transformation?
4.28.2025 – Be Alive: (Re)vive
2 Corinthians 5:13-19
- Paul talks about being “out of his mind” for God and “in his right mind” for others. When you think about your own faith, where do you experience the tension between personal devotion and living thoughtfully for the sake of others? What does it mean to be fully surrendered to God in a way that may not always make sense to the world?
- In what ways has experiencing Christ’s love changed the way you see yourself and the people around you?
- Paul describes believers as a “new creation” in Christ. What does being part of God’s “new creation” mean to you personally? Where do you see signs of new life in your own story right now?
- Paul seems to contrast private devotion (“for God”) with public witness (“for you”). How do you balance your private spiritual experiences with your public life of faith? Are there ways your faith expression could be more mindful of the people around you?
- This passage invites us to no longer view others “from a human point of view.” What would it look like for you to see someone in your life through the eyes of resurrection and new creation this week?
4.21.2025 – Be Alive: (Re)joice
Philippians 4:4-9
- What does rejoicing look like in your life right now? How do you practice joy—even in seasons of stress or uncertainty?
- Where might God be inviting you to respond with gentleness this week? What does gentleness look like in a world that often values strength and speed?
- Paul speaks of a peace that “guards our hearts and minds.” What helps you feel that peace? How can you make space for that peace to grow?
- Pastor Jad reminds us that God’s truth can show up in unexpected places. Where have you encountered goodness, truth, or beauty outside traditional “church” settings recently?
- What are you filling your mind with this week? How might intentionally focusing on the good shift your perspective or your spirit?
- How does Easter continue to shape your everyday life now that the big celebration has passed? What does it mean for you to be alive in this season?
