St. Luke's Care Groups

St. Luke's offers several support groups for a wide range of topics. Most of the support groups are through the Community Counseling Center.

Care Groups

Breast Cancer Ministry: offers support to our church family and the community through monthly meetings with information, resources and fellowship and promotes community-wide cancer awareness events.

Divorce Recovery Ministry: provides support to anyone at any stage of divorce through weekly gatherings and helps the individual/family understand the stages and challenges of divorce.

Community Counseling Center Care Groups & Workshops/Classes

Al-Anon: 

Alateens: 

Attention Deficit Disorder: This course is led by Lisa Quinn and requires Pre-Registration.

Attention Deficit Disorder Workshop: For parents of attention deficit children: Lisa Quinn, L.M.H.C, will give an overview and history of this problem. Symptoms and treatment are covered and behavioral and school intervention will also be discussed.

Before You Wed: This course meets the Florida State requirement for the four-hour Marriage Preparation Course, and qualifies couples from Florida for a discount on the cost of the marriage license. Led by licensed mental health counselors, Dr. Joanne MacPherson and Lisa Beilman. Cost: $175 Pre-Register, call 407-876-4991 ext. 250. Course is also offered at First UMC or Orlando in March, July and November and First UMC of Winter Park in January, May and September. Brushing Up Your Assertive Skills: Join us to talk about communication skills that can make you more comfortable in your relationships. Pre-Registration Required. Led by Virginia Aiken, LMHC.

Cracking the Communication Code for Couples: Understanding each other’s style is helpful in any relationship. Lisa Beilman, licensed mental health counselor, specializes in work with couples and is sharing her expertise on couple communication in this workshop. By learning communication techniques, couples can lessen conflict in their relationship. Please call the St. Luke’s Community Counseling Center to register, 407-876-4991, ext. 250.

Harvest the Wisdom of Your Life and Create an Ethical Will: Your Last Will & Testament makes sure that your property is distributed according to you wishes. But your legacy involves more than your material assets. An Ethical Will conveys the values you lived by through the stories of your life. Reconnect with the past telling successes and failures, goals and dreams, and tell your story which will be a gift for your younger generations. The workshop is facilitated by Alison Issen. How to Cope with Anxiety and Stress: This workshop is facilitated by Mark Zauss. Please call the Community Counseling Center to register at 407-876-4991 ext. 250.

Overeaters Anonymous: A free drop-in group to offer guidance and support to anyone facing the problems associated with overeating.

Parenting Teens: 

Socialization for Singles: Pre-Registration Required. This support group is led by Carla Bresnahan, LMHC

Tracing Our Spiritual Autobiography: Let’s explore the paths followed in our spiritual life to determine our future journey. Workshop is non-denominational - all faiths honored. Learn about developmental theories of spiritual growth. This course is led by Alison Issen, LMHC.
