Disciple Building

Growing in our discipleship happens in a variety of ways in the life of every person. We grow in our relationship with God through worship, service to others, personal devotion, group life and other practices. This particular informational piece focuses on discipleship group life opportunities. These opportunities are broken into three segments. “Learning Communities,” “Discipleship Affinity Groups” and “Growth Groups.”

"Learning Communities" are group opportunities of various sizes and offered to share the basics of who we are called to be as followers of Jesus at St. Luke's. These classes will be taught by pastors or lay people who have expertise and passion around their particular topic. Learning Communities are a great way to engage for the first time if you are new to St. Luke's or can be helpful to those just wanting a "refresher."

"Discipleship Affinity Groups" are places where persons, drawn together by a particular season in life or common interest, gather for Christ-like connection and engage in some type of intentional study.

"Growth Groups" are places where Christians gather to study, pray, and engage in respectful, challenging conversation in order to be formed more in the image of Jesus. These are also groups of various sizes and can be on-going, long-term, or short-term.

You may see an even more extensive list with more detailed information about each class on the Disciple Building Growth Groups & Classes page which you can search by your interests and sign-up directly on the website.

Childcare Beginning September 1, childcare is available on Wednesday and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. -12:00 noon and 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., with one week advance reservations for St. Luke’s sponsored events taking place on campus during regular childcare hours. You must make reservations on the childcare page.

If you have not already, we hope you will take this step on your faith journey and connect with one of these “learning communities,” “discipleship affinity groups” or “growth groups” this Fall (or maybe more than one!) Registration is not required for learning communities or groups unless specifically noted in the descriptions below.
